I think now more than ever it’s very possible to go without a table saw. You can make dados, tenons, and grooves using a router/router table, a router plane, and a shoulder plane. Repeatable cross cuts you can do with a miter saw, or, if you are lucky, a radial arm saw. About the only thing you’d have trouble with is ripping thin strips, but that’s possible with the MFT/Track saw combo if you don’t need very long, very thin strips. I’m not rushing to get rid of my table saw, but given the right circumstances, I could most certainly do without it. |
