Would appreciate suggestions for rough lumber suppliers in the litchfield cty, ct area. In particular, places that are open on the weekend. For work reasons, I can rarely get to a place during the normal 9-5 M-F hours. Could always live with delivery, but I'd prefer to see what I'm buying before I get it. I'm familiar with Cole Bros in Woodbury, but they are a M-F only. Not looking for anything obscure. Oak, cherry, walnut would be plenty. Thanks in advance.

I live in Simsbury (near hartford) so I'm close to connecticut wood group. Its a nice place for quality wood at a good price. It doesn't have too many exotics or really figured wood, but for oak cherry walnut etc it has great selection. The only problem is that you have to buy the whole board which is usually 10' min. Also its all rough sawn. They are happy to plan it for you, but if you plane it, you buy it. With that said, its a great place with nice people. i love spending a saturday morning there.

Hi Bill,

I'm in CT, too. I've been using craigslist and finding a ton of rough lumber around the state. Just go to craigslist.com, select the location of the state you want to search, and then go to the materials section and scan the list. I've found red and white oak, some maple, pine, and even some exotics. Most of the sellers are available on weekends as well as weeknights. Hope this helps.
