More important than brand is the design and model. The best set I’ve used is the Infinity Dadonator…tough to beat at any price. It runs around $200. Made in Italy for a US company.

The best bang for the buck is usually the Delta/DW 7670 set for ~ $120. Craftsman offers what looks to be the same set under their name, so check sale pricing for the best deal. Made in China.

The Freud SD208 is a good set for ~ $95, but the 7670 has it pretty well covered in performance, shim stock, and the carrying case. It just cuts cleaner. The SD508 is their better set with the 4T chippers…it’s cleaner cutting than the SD208 but runs in the range of twice as much. The Freud SD608 features the same configuration in with an adjustable hub…made in Italy.

The Forrest Dado King and Ridge Carbide Dado Master are both excellent sets too….both made in the USA.

The better Oshlun sets can be a pretty good bang for the buck on sale. Made in China.

I just destroyed my Diablo DD208 (same as the Freud SD208), but it served me well. Since I need to replace it, I ve been researching again. I m leaning towards the Oshlun SDS-0842 as I ve read good reviews of it. I ve also seen a lot of good reviews of the Dewalt DW7670.

Adamal – I went from a good SD208 to a better DW7670….it cuts cleaner. Lots of others have made similar observations. The DW7670 seems to have the better Oshlun 8” set covered too.
