Eye protection and Hearing protection all in ONE
I’ll admit that I can be lazy. The main reason I bought my dust collector was so that I didn’t have to sweep the floor so often. I have never owned a respirator. I seldom put on a dust mask because it fogs up my glasses. The only time I use hearing protection is when I use the planner. The one thing I do use religiously is eye protection. I have had two occasions to have friends give me first hand accounts of what an emergency room doctor has to do to get an object out ...
Rockler Trim Router Table
I purchased this Trim Router Table last December. For me it has proved more useful than I expected. I can set it up pretty much anywhere I want. In the shop, outside or anywhere with power. It tears down as fast as it goes up. Two clamps and dust collection if you want. I am not a fan of hard edges on wood so I have used it mostly but not exclusively with a roundover bit attached. It is meant for smaller projects and not something like large panels. I compare it to my small band...
Shop Flash from Grizzly
I suppose there are two types of people. Those who like to talk on the phone and those who don’t. I would be squarely in the second group. My wife would be in the first group as she likes to talk and talk. When the phone rings at my house, I look the other way. But there are times when I am waiting for that important return phone call and the wife is not home. My phone out in the shop works fine with just the stereo going but if I am using the dust collector and almost any ot...
Grizzly inflatable drum / flap sander
The only other review I could find on this sander was posted 1300 days ago. I found this machine on Craigslist about six months ago and have used it quite a bit since. It is a beast of power. Very straight forward and simple to operate. I have used and wasted my money on many smaller flap sanders on the drill press with less than great results. This machine will cut your sanding time WAY down. It will take square edges and round them over quickly and accurately. Projects such as cutt...
Rockler Workbench Caster Set
I built this workbench about two years ago. It has three sheets of 3/4” MDF on top and four full extension drawers full of this and that. The workbench probably weights close to 250 pounds. I gave up long ago trying to move it. I saw this caster set advertised in the latest Rockler circular and thought I would give it a try. Everything was super easy to install with all screws, nuts and lock washers provided. This allows you to maneuver your heavy work bench with ease. This s...
5 Ton Electric Log Splitter
It is getting to be that time of year. I have seen some posts asking how people heat thier shop in the winter. I heat mine with both electric heat and a wood stove. Last year my brother loaned me his Homelite Electric Log Splitter to split my firewood. The maul and sledge hammer is just not a much fun as it used to be. I couldn’t believe how easy and great this machine was to use. After raving about it all summer, he bought me one for my birthday . They sell for $299.00 at ...
RAPIDAIR Compressed Air Piping System
If you like compressed air plumbed into your shop, this might be for you. I saw the Rapidair compressed air piping system advertised in Woodcraft as a new product and thought it sounded interesting. I like and need to use compressed air in my woodshop for nail guns, air tools and cleaning. I have been working on a remodel and expansion to my shop and I was going to put in compressed air anyway so I thought I would give this a try. The Woodcraft price I paid was $139.99. Y...
