    Hello Rance -

    Will you help me?

For awhile I going to have do my woodworking outside. Before I begin, I'll need a couple of workbenches that can stay out in the weather. I intend to move these benches as suits me from time-to-time and, because ground is almost never a perfectly smooth plane, I've decided that a 3-legged bench is a good idea.

I came across your bench and was immediately impressed. Then I saw the other things you have made. Wow! Impressive.

I'm not the artist that you are… just a retired CPA that likes to do my own house repairs and such. I'd like to build your 3-legged bench for my needs. I'll alter it a little (e.g., use treated lumber), so it can better stand the weather, but intend to stick to your basic design.

However, attempting to make your bench without some plans is not something I'm willing to attempt. I don't really enjoy getting so frustrated that I curl up in a ball and cry like a little girl.

I have SketchUp 8.0 on my MacBook but haven't yet learned how to use it.

Would you be willing to give (or sell) me your SketchUp plans for your 3-legged bench? I'm assuming that with your plans in hand I could use SketchUp to get the various lengths and angles.

I have no intention to, nor would I (because I consider it to be an unethical act), attempt to sell your plans. I only want them for my own purposes. Additionally, if I built your bench and someone asked me for the plans, I would send them to you (rather than give them what you had provided to me).

I'd like to pick up the supplies for this bench on Sunday (5/6/12) and begin building it that morning. So if you can respond today (5/4/12) or tomorrow, that would be great.

Thanks BC, and all the others. I never knew what I was getting into joining this site. Sooooo much inspiration. I've gotten & given more advice than posting projects. I need to post more of my own projects. I'll do that soon. Thanks again to all.
