Having a hard time deciding if I should buy a new Pax hand saw or to try and find a decent vintage saw?My sharpening skills definitely need more practice.Been looking around and in these parts the Pax is the only affordable saw available and Lee Valley extended the free shipping for 2 more days.Anyone out there have a Pax panel saw?

My Daughter has asked me to refinish an old Oak Desk she has purchased, I thought no problem quick sanding, stain and Varnish! I don’t use sandpaper as a rule in the shop so was surprised when the old belt sander didn’t work the way I expected. Any tips on sanding some real hard (old) Oak? Maybe just build a new Desk?

Krenov Cabinet - 2 replies

A friend of mine showed me a cabinet James Krenov made for him some time in the 70s.Wish I could describe the feeling of the dovetails as my fingers touched them! Every drawerstill had the let go after all these years. door latches still firm and hinges smooth.

I think I can finally post a Gloat! Went out to the west coast and a friend of my Mother had heard of my wood working interest so brought over some old Stanely planes he had gotten from his Dad.
