Do a lot of hobby wood workers do like myself and just “wing it” when building things? I dont like plans. I look at a picture and then figure out whatever dimensions and then build! My sister wanted a new porch swing so I asked her how wide? 48”, 60” or 72”? She said her old one was 48” so thats what she wanted. Thats all I needed and boom, in a slow afternoon, a porch swing is created.
The slats were part of that large pallet of bed frames, rails, etc… I have $6 in the studs and then some screws so around $10 in this project… oh and then eye bolts, so $17. She is thrilled so thats all that matters. She’s painting it.
Great thing about her is she lives 300 miles from me so its giving my wife and I a mini vacation traveling to see her and spend a couple days with her family. And she is already planning the painting of this project when we arrive so she is excited.

Great job. Designing your projects is fun. And even better when you can use reclaimed wood. Including a story even makes it better
