My wife, who is a quilter, recently asked me if I would make a drawing prize for the next quilting retreat she was going to. We came up with the idea of making a thread spool storage box. The box is made out of cherry with a “quilt pattern” inlay on the top. I used some Osage Orange, Black Walnut,Walnut, QSWO and Aspen to make a block pattern emulating a quilts design. The inside is sized so that the thread spools are recessed to hold them in place with a felt cushion that depresses slightly when the lid is closed. The lucky winner told me she loved it.
