Sawhorse built from an 8’ construction grade douglas fir 2”x12” loosely following one of Chris Schwarz’s plans/articles. I ran out of lumber so I used a piece of scrap 2”x6”, which is noticeably lighter. I guess I should have purchase a 12’ board – oh well. Leg-top joints are reinforced with a 3/8” oak dowel. Made with mostly hand tools as a skill building project. I don’t have a proper bench yet, so this will serve as a clamping surface for upcoming projects and help me learn to saw properly. Finished with one coat of BLO followed by paste wax.

That looks like a very sturdy piece of kit. Should serve you well until you decide on a full bench.

Great bench! Nothing improved my hand sawing like a proper sawbench, and I think you’ll find it makes a world of difference. Nice work on this, and I look forward to seeing the projects made on it!

Looks great and solid. I’m sure it will serve you well for a long time. Like those joints. Great job!
