This is a bridal bench I custom built for a friend of our family that got married over the weekend. I researched about 20 pictures and various styles of benches from the internet and specific woodworking books. Then I spend about 3-4 hours drafting it to scale and creating the requested measurements and merging my research to a style that I liked and that would meet their overall vision for the bench. It was dropped off at the wedding chapel and signed by all the wedding guests at the reception. I must say it was very fulfilling to hear a few people say how much they like the bench as they were signing…while I on looked from the background as I’m not much for conversation as a novice woodworker. I study the true masters and always remain in awe of their beautiful work from the 1700s on up through today. But, I still most at home working with framing lumber and basic hand and power tools. All I can say is this build was very relaxing and actually therapeutic, after all isn’t that partly what hobbies and passions are for.

If you have questions or comments I am all for hearing them. I relish hanging and chatting with other woodworkers who get it. That love for creating something hopefully beautiful, useful, and long lasting out of what others call “boards.”

Lovely bench! How will it be sealed to protect all the signatures?

It’s a beautiful and well made bench. Like the wood choice and joints. I’m sure it will last long to be enjoyed. Great job!
