A coworker asked me to make a jewelry box that she could give to her grand daughter. I made two thinking someone else at work may want one. They are made mahogany and walnut with blue velvet for the interior. It took a little thought for the ring bars, I ended up using foam backer rod I found at ACE. I ended up braking out my mother-n-laws sewing basked out and sewed the velvet around the backer rode, then hot glued them in. The first one I made had the solid walnut cover. I didn’t have any one piece of mahogany or walnut big enough left for the second cover, so I ended up making a mahogany panel wrapped in walnut for the second cover. Also made dovetail splines out of walnut. Finished them with Danish Oil and spray lacquer.
Thanks for looking,
Jayson

These are real eye catchers for me. Nicely done. What is ‘backer rod’?

Backer rod is used to fill large cracks before caulking it. I used 3/4” for my project.
