I was contacted by the family of an Air Force EOD tech who was being medically retired a few weeks back. They needed a shadowbox for him and really didn’t have any other options for finding one in time. Since I had just made an identical one in December, I was able to pull out the stops and get this one ready and sent off in time.
The box itself is walnut and consists of a four piece frame in front of a modified octagon to follow the contour in the back. The badge used walnut, maple, cherry and bloodwood and was hand-burned to shade the leaves and stars. I used a few coats of gloss polyurethane for the finish.

Hey Kyle do you know of any places there in Shreveport that sell hardwoods? I’m trying to get a hold of some walnut and mahogany or possibly purple heart.
