Another project made from recycled wood that was headed to a fire. This is my grandson’s bed frame that I build from odds n ends. I made the legs from 3” sq Ash stock that I planed down to 2 1/2” sq. Then I made the foot board out of glued up pine that I had in my wood pile. The only thing on the head board that I used from the pile I had purchased was the top of the head board. Thankfully I didnt have to mess with all the dowel rods. I made the lower part of it and then the rails were shortened to fit a twin.
We tried a new poly/stain combo that totally backfired. I had to let the wood completely dry and then re-sand all of the wood down. Then I painted the head board and foot board. I kept the rails pine and stained to offset for colored effect.

Nice bed. Even after a long time your grandson will remember that his granddad made a bed for him.

Looks great, like the design and finish. I’m sure he’s proud that Grand Pa made it for him. Great job!
Have your say...
