Just finished this cane for my Dad. He’s retired from the railroad, so I cleaned up a spike and punched in his years of service, name, and railroad name on it. The wood was found along my camping travels. Every time I see a piece with twists like this, I can’t resist brining it home! It’s a piece of oak that had creeper vine choking it. Stripping the bark was a bear as it’s about 3 years old and well seasoned. Finished with clear satin lacquer, including the spike.

First project uploaded, so be gentle!! I’ve been making sawdust for about 20 years, so I’ll have to upload my past projects in the future.

Thanks for looking.

Since you did not tell us what your dad uses it for, I am guessing he protects himself against stray dogs and muggers during his daily walks.

Gorgeous cane! Great combo of the cool spike with the lovely twisted wood. I’m sure he loves it. Great job!
