Shaker style blanket chest that I made for another PTA auction for my kids Elementary School. The chest is made from air dried Walnut that’s been sitting in a barn for approximately 20 years. The dovetails were machine cut with the Leigh D4R dovetail jig. The sides of the case are half blind dovetails and the base are through dovetails. The top edge frame is splined to allow for seasonal movement of the solid top. The finish is approximately 12 coats of a clear shellac finish. I pre-finished the inside of the case before assembly and ended up spraying the outside of the case with a 1.5 lb cut of Shellac. I lined the bottom with cedar to give it the cedar chest aroma.

Overall, it was a fun project.

Very nice blanket chest! That should bring in a good amount for the PTA.

Beautiful chest, it should fetch a princely sum at the auction. Nice build.

Great looking and well crafted chest, walnut is gorgeous and those joints are awesome. Great job!
