I have been working on a set of doors that will have four panels in each of two doors. One door will have four panels that displays the husband’s lineage and the second door displays his wife’s lineage. Only one panel is shown here, I was testing the fit of the frame parts and the fit of the panel.

Beautiful work Phil. I want to do something similar for my son and his wife. Did you hand carve the crest?

Very nice. Does each panel get a crest or family tree?

Thanks Lee and Kelly. The carvings a done with a CNC router. I also do hand carving but the detail in the crests is beyond my skill level. If you look at the other projects I’ve posted you’ll see a pair of wooden curtains that I did. That’s the most ambitious carving I’ve done. I have 8 of the crests to do for this set of doors. With a CNC router I can complete them in a month or so. By hand -I have no idea how long it would take, probably years.
Kelly, each panel will get a different crest.

That relief looks good Phil. Nice joinery too. What kind of CNC you have? And did you create the relief yourself?
