My cousin from the UK came by for a visit today so I thought it would be nice to make an acoustic amplifier for his smart phones. This is what we came up with.

Great job! What is the little round black device? Is that an actual speaker or diaphragm of some sort? A drone? Or is just a decorative ‘grill’ of some sort?

Thank you guys. The black is just a hole drilled with a forstner bit and after the top is routed out for the phone to fit I drilled a 5/16” hole to connect the two. It directs the sound from the phones speaker out the hole in the hardwood and yes it does sound great.

Love it. Definitely something I have to make for My Galaxy Note II…I just might use yours for inspiration.

Very cool design Narinder, it almost looks like the body of a guitar with the bottom sliced off so it can sit flat, was that the idea of your design? I like it, well done.

@7footer – thank you! I could not figure out what that little piece of wood on the front was for – now I see it’s what you said – a cut off segment of a guitar body and that’s the bridge. Now I like it even better – I know a guitar player who needs this as a gift.
