In a concerted effort to be a better lumberjock here is a post of a project I completed just before christmas. These are two nightstands I made for my parents who have a lake house in Maine. The cherry ‘burls’ came from my elementary school teachers garage. I was there looking at an ancient piano she wanted made into a blanket chest. (that project is currently underway) There were 4 pieces of this cherry stacked in the corner and when I asked about them she said ‘Take them!’ I thought they came out well kind of like a ying and yang sort of thing going with the legs. Comments are welcome, good, bad, and ugly.

*For some reason i have no pictures of them with poly. They got 4 coats of satin oil based minwax. The dutchmen are walnut. The last pic is of the extremely cluttered state of my bench upon completing the last table.

Very cool! I’ll bet that was tricky to get them standing up right. I’m inspired to try something similar!

Cool nightstands! The cherry is beautiful and the legs are unique and organic. They will look great in a lake house. Great job!

Have your say...
