Project Information

I was given this old sleigh frame a few years back. It was located in an old barn, on an old homestead built in the late 1800's. The story was, this sleigh was used to haul firewood back in the day. The owner of the property stated the sleigh had been in the barn as long as he could remember. He was 92. I really didn't have any plans, I just went with it. I did this in the first week of last December. It was a gift to my Wife for Christmas. The frame is all 8/4 red oak. The body is oak and also some vintage softer woods. I'm debating whether to finish it with the contoured piece under the rail or leave it as it is. My Wife liked the rust, so I didn't sandblast or paint it. We're going to let it weather for a few years and then seal it. It does function and is extremely solid. I did throw a strap on it and pull it down the driveway, behind the Jeep when we had snow.
