I was looking through some old woodworking magazines a buddy had given me when I came across the plans for this sturdy little dump truck. The plans were published in 1993!

I had some 1/2” cherry on hand, and since I hadn’t worked with cherry yet, decided to give it a go. The cab, dump box, tailgate and bumper are all cherry. The frame is 3/4” birch ply, and the wheels and axle pins are maple.

sanded to 400 grit and 4 coats of gloss spray lacquer, sanded between coats, really brought out the color and grain of the cherry. I will definitely be using more of this wood in the future.

Thanks for looking.

Nice! Looks really good and I like the lever to lift the box. The finish looks really sharp.

Thanks. Funny story about the lift lever, took two tries to get it right. Second time I re-read the article, carefully, and realized it would’ve been a lot easier if I’d done that first! :)

When in doubt, follow the instructions!
