Project Information

So, what I needed was a small-ish knife block. I have just a few ceramic knives in the kitchen, and tired of fishing them out of a drawer every time I want to use one. A bit of 1/2 " butternut I had waiting for the right project, and some walnut rescued out of the firewood pile. The racing stripe on the top, and the base/trim are the walnut. Finished with a beeswax/orange oil/carnauba wax and I now have countertop access to my knives.
(And a personal milestone: this is the first project EVER for me using no mechanical fasteners. Not the first nail or screw to be found.)

Looks good. Love those useful projects that are made out of necessity.

I like the opposing angles of the top and base. It doesn't have to be fancy to be a great project.
