Bentwood ring with bass guitar inlay

The ring is made from walnut and I used bass guitar string (0.45) to inlay it. Bass guitar string was suitable because she wanted me to make it stick out. With guitar string you can “hide” it in the groove and beneath the finish so that the surface is flush.

Since I made a “How to make a bentwood ring videos” I got a lot of requests to show how to make an inlay. Here is the video how I did this one:

The cuff next to it was more like a tryout but it turned out ok, so I incorporated that into the gift also.

Just watched your YouTube instx video and guitar string inlay is very nice. I just changed my strings and hate to throw the old ones away. I’ll try this method.

This is fantastic. I’m going to (or try to) make one for my Nephew’s grade 8 grad.
