The stork that brought baby # 4.
This is the first carving I ever completed. I carved it for my wife after she told me our 4th child was on his way to our family. This was a project that I never got frustrated or had problems with. I used both knifes and power tools to carve this. I looked at several different pictures and pulled ideas to build the design. The walnut was some scrap from work. Butcher block oil was used to finish it. It is getting to be time to refresh the finish again. My hope is when this is passed to my son someday and he can take care of it easily by applying some to it.

I had tried several times to finish a carving but always let my self get frustrated before finishing the project. I sure learned a lot about myself during this carving. How to stick with it and do the best I could. In the last 3 years I haven’t become a master but I can stick with a project and finish it. I do see some improvements though. I carved some Christmas trees this last holiday season and actually gave them away. I felt that good about them.

This is the first Love spoon I have made. A lot of love went into this. She really liked it when I finely finished it! I just wish I had done the same for our first 3 kids. I think someday I will complete one for each of them.

Thank you for looking!

Get started! It’s too easy to procrastinate.

Good job on the spoon and thanks for sharing your experiences. Woodworking is teaching me to “stick with it” too!

Congratulations on the new baby and take care,
