This is the 3rd mahogany platter I’ve made from the 6 foot board I got, I sold the other 2, so I figured I would make one last one. At 16” its about as large as my lathe can take, I literally had 1/8” inch between the bowl and the bed. I had to turn it outboard initially to get it true. Its only 2” in total thickness. The finish is Mahoney’s Walnut oil and Mahoneys Oi Wax over a 2000 grit surface. I’m pretty pleased with the way it came out, lots of figure in it. If I get the cahones one day (maybe on a less expensive blank), I would like to try and do a relief carving on one of these. With the large flat bottom it would be the perfect touch for a display piece. Thanks for looking

Thanks guys! I have a Jet 1642 evs.. Not a bad lathe but my power switch is starting to give me problems after about 2 years. In all fairness I have put some serious miles on it.
