Ive gotten all kinds of great ideas from this site, so though it was time to share some myself.

These two boxes where custom ordered from a local customer a few months ago. She wanted something for her sons who are big gun collectors.
What I did was replicate the metal military boxes as closely as I could.
Its been a few months since I delivered them, but I think they are about 13 inches deep and 6 inches wide, and about 8 inches high.
The one on the left is made from a piece of reclaimed poplar I had, with a lacewood lid.
The one of the right is walnut with an ambrosia maple lid.

I thought about putting in some dividers, but decided against it, because they are so deep and thought that would make them harder to reach to the bottom.

Very nice. Look rugged enough. Well done.

I love ammo boxes! I use them for hand tools, got an orbital sander in one, very rugged.

Your boxes have done 2 awesome things. They 100% look like ammo boxes, and they 100% look like gorgeous pieces of wood art. Well done! Agree with the above post, wood selection was spot on.

Nice work and keep posting

Thanks everyone for the comments. The customer was very happy was well.

The wood types are as follows:
The one on the right is walnut and ambrosia maple
The one of the left is lacewood for the lid and a piece of poplar I found in an old barn, why it has all the crazy mineral streaks in it.
I wish I had more of that poplar, but I don’t. I did just made a little box out of another piece I found that is almost jet black. I’ll post it soon.

Awesome boxes! The gorgeous grains really pop with your finish. They look stunning and like those splines and clean lines. Beautiful work!

Looking good
WMD I know what it means, but JSD has me wondering!

Too nice for ammo boxes knowing the life they lead but excellent work just the same.
