I had only posted some cutting boards so far, and thought I should post something more towards what I spend the majority of my time doing. I still remember building my first box, was way harder than I expected, lol. This chest was built about six months after I gave up my desk job to become a full time woodworker. It was an order from etsy for christmas time, and took me about a month. Most of that time was spent trying to figure out how I was going to build it to the customers specifications. I try to make each box I make a little different from the next.
This chest is about 36 inches wide, and 12 inches high.
The inside trays are made of spalted maple, and everything is lined with brown suede.
I ended up losing money on this deal, I quoted way too low of a price, which is a big problem of mine. The shipping alone was half of the payment I received for it.
I really had a hard time letting this one go, can’t tell you how much I wanted to keep it. I have that happen to almost everything I build, but this was probably the worst so far.

I’d would want to keep it too. Don’t undervalue your time, you should charge at least $30 per hour. Estimate the time and add at least 25%.

I can see why you wanted to keep it—it’s beautiful!
