I think that I needed to keep this form simple as the grain says it all. Turned from Spalted Beech and is 10” diameter and I have gone back to my first finishes I started using when I began turning and that is sealer, burnished and then canuba wax.
I could not make my mind up about the chucking point so left it in as the base is quite wide I think in this case it breaks the foot up.
This is for someone who donated some nice pieces of wood to my slowly growing store.

Digger, The piece of wood in the picture is in my opinion, knock-down-drag-out-absolutely-gorgeous. I belong to a turning Club in Portland Oregon and do see a lot of wood turned as bowls. You do have a fantastic piece of wood there-congratulations- for having it in your possession!!! If you could ever post another picture of a piece of spaulted wood that is that——-magnificent——I would be amazed. Thanks for posting, keep up the good posts.

G’Day Derek, Very nice timber and top craftsmanship as per usual…..
The timber figure is amazing and it’d look good displayed in a high end shop in London with an appropriate price tag …..
