Similar to my other design. This will be the last Rosewood project I do. I ended up with a really bad allergic reaction to this wood – facial swelling, rash, hives, Had to go to doc and get a Prednisone shot and have been on pills almost a week. I stayed out of the shop for most of the week. I had finished all cutting and sanding when the reaction hit. My wife cleaned my shop for me today so I could make the handles (Zebra wood) and put a finish on it.

I had a similar reaction to Rosewood about a year ago. During this project I had my new Delta air cleaner running on high, wearing a respirator and was wearing rubber gloves? The gloves tore a few times, maybe the oil in the wood. Too bad, I really like Rosewood…...

Very nice looking box…I like that design also…sells well for me. It’s to bad you are having so much trouble with Rosewood. I have never used it, but cedar does the same to me…plus a hard time breathing. It did turn out lovely, but you better find a different wood to use on the next one.

Beautiful! Is that plywood in the middle? What finish did you use? Thanks for sharing.

Yes 3/4” cabinet grade birch plywood. I’m borrowing this style from the Drunken Woodworker. I’ll give it back when I’m done. Sanded to 220, I have about 3 coats of satin wipe-on poly. Took a long time to dry between coats on the rosewood?

Nicely done, too bad about your reaction to rosewood. I haven’t worked with that wood yet, Ill have to check it out at the lumber yard
