A while back, I made some ladybug inlay boxes as Christmas gifts for the ladies in the family. You can see this project here.

When I got done with that project, I saw a stack of oval Padaul pieces left over from that project. Rather than throw them away, I decided to come up with a smaller design oval box to use up the scraps. I came up with a simple flower design with a maple top, red padauk flower, and a small black ebony center…...using Google Sketchup.

I included the picture of how you do inlays on the scroll saw. The picture is for the ladybug boxes, but the same concept was used to make the smaller flower inlay boxes.

If you are interested in my trials & tribulations in making these boxes, see my web site.

Great save on the scraps and those boxes look attractive where the Padauk really stand out.

Have your say...
