Floating Shelf (kind of)

These shelves replaced ones installed by the builder. The builder saw fit to put two supports under the shelf but they were not centered. If you look at the pic the hanging rod has a support in the center and one on the right but nothing on the left. So needless to say that pissed me off every time I went in to the utility room, so they got replaced. Can you say OCD…

I built the shelves out of 1×12, designed like a floating shelf. But in the end I put one screw in from near the front of each cabinet. The shelf fit was challenging because the cabinets were not square, that is the walls were not square. So I played around with the miter saw and made the shelves fit just like it would have it the world was square.

And that is not wall paper, it is paint. That is my wife’s doing…

Wow, builders can be the worst! In one of our bathrooms the light above the sink is not centered with the mirror or the sink. Horrible.

I would’ve had to replace that shelf too. Nice job.

Great job! It looks great and well installed. A great addition in between those cabinets, for addition storage as well.
