My first attempt at hand cutting a box. i feel it is perfectly imperfect. The joints dont quite line up right and i used an off color wood filler. Learned alot during the build of this box…hand cutting is not as easy as it looks, im not too good at cutting out hinges, and i need to work on finishes..=P Had alot of fun building it though..lots of lessons learned! made of red oak and birch ply for the top and bottom. The top is just slightly smaller than the box (about a 1/16” on the sides and front)...The tray is made of 1/4” oak and sits on 1/4” rails so it can be moved back and forth. finished with danish oil and wip on poly.

-- I don't always have soft hands....but when I do its because I just left the woodshop.

A project that didn’t teach you anything isn’t worth doing.

I think we always see, before anything, the imperfections in our own work. Looks fine from here. I do see what you mean. But that’s sure a lot better than the boxes I’m making today.

The learning makes it great. I always believe that my next project will be my best.

Hand cutting is never easy. Good job.

“Just a box …..”, just very nice. Nice tight joints, great work.

Simple design but looks great and well crafted. Like the clean lines and tight joints. Well done!
