This is a rod tube rack for fly rods. I am donating it for auction at the local Trout Unlimited banquet, this weekend. It is QSWO. I designed it myself, but it borrows heavily from the Stickley #74 bookcase. It will hold tubes for 4 two piece rods and 4 four piece rods, 8 in all. The drawers are hand cut dovetails for reels. It has been a labor of love since the Holidays ended. I did struggle w/ the finish for a bit, I think my shellac went bad. I used Lockwood fumed oak dye, garnet shellac and a poly, BLO blend. Other than the drawers there is no real joinery, just dados, screws and plugs. I was going to use through tenons and wedges but I thought that six of those on each side would be too busy for a small project such as this especially since the lower rails are only 3 inches apart. Thanks for looking.

Nice job B G. I only have two fly rods but plenty of other ones. Hopefully I’ll build one this summer and use this as a inspiration . The drawers are a good idea. Well done.

Excellent!!!!! But….....it should be bigger to justify buying more fly rods.

Knothead, that was a concern during the design phase. I own probably 30 or so fly rods, it wouldn’t fit my needs but it is a donation and I had to guess as to what size might be popular w/ the crowd. I also had a deadline to meet and I wanted it to be somewhat portable so I could transport it. Hopefully this will raise a lot of money for a good cause.

On the same quest. Our TU chapter has banquet in the spring. Trying to put together something similar that I can donate. Thanks for the idea!
