Scented Heart Box

This was a fun little project based on Steve Ramsey’s pre-Valentine’s heat box project. SWMBO loves it.

I used his basic template, but shaped the drawer differently, as a 5/16” band saw blade doesn’t make turns as quick as the design called for. Instead of making a removable drawer from the center of the heart, I made one half of the heart detach, and put a slotted grate to allow the scent from some potpourri to make its way out.

All in all, a fun project and a quick one.

The body is made from Oak, the tray from purpleheart, and finished with some shellac to prevent any finish smell from lingering or mixing with the floral scent.

Well done, another example that making bandsaw boxes is fun and an opportunity for creativity.

Very nice take on Steve’s project. Wish I had thought of it!
