Project Information
This is a guitar stand I made for a friend who's apartment was really empty looking the last time I visited him except for his stratocaster guitar in the corner. I thought he could use a nice stand to display it so I built this.
I borrowed his guitar to make a pattern first then did some prototypes in plywood before deciding on the final shape and angles. It's made from walnut and some curly maple I found at Home Depot (I always check to see if their maple has any hidden gems). The base is cut at a very slight angle so that the walnut branches angle inward.
It's finished with danish oil and 6 coats of wipe on poly. I wish I hadn't put the danish oil on the maple though because it's not as attractive with the brownish tint.
Anyway, it was fun and somewhat original I thought. Enjoy.
