I guess technically, they’re baskets. Had some fun with these. All made from free patterns (I think at least one from Steve Good’s site) available on the internet. There was a bit of an assembly flaw with the larger walnut bowl – will be interesting to see if someone can point it out, and if anyone notices off the website also.

These went together surprisingly fast. Would be interesting to hear glueing tips, as even after picking at it with a chisel I had a lot of spots that still showed. I may have to do a vase for Mother’s day.

I, also, make those and have always thought of a way to get them more perfect. My next idea is to use dowels as alignment posts. Now clamping is still an issue. I think Steve Good has a little jig for that.

I just set a plastic cutting board (gasp!) on top and stacked some books on it. The overlap is only maybe a sixteenth or so – you’d have to exaggerate the pattern to dowel it, I think.

I think they’re all ok, just wondering if maybe another glue type might show less. I used regular pva glue, which seems surprisingly durable given how little contact the rings make.

Have your say...
