One of the winter projects at work is getting a better office space set up for some folks. The department manager and I started looking for desks for the space and considering what we found I said I could make something that was heavier duty and less money. I showed her my worktable and decided that would be a good fit with just a few modifications.

We decided a laminated top would be the best bet as we wanted a nice smooth working surface that was easy to maintain. I built the frames last week with some help of one of my younger guys, delivered them on Thursday and the department manager painted them, did the edge banding and top install this morning. They will be put into the new office later this week once it is cleaned out a bit more.

I really like they way they turned out and the folks that are going to use them are happy with them. Hope they will be around for while. I don’t often get a chance to build larger projects a 2nd time and it was quite enjoyable.

Thanks for looking.

Great looking modern design work tables. I like the black and white look. I’m sure they will be happy with them. Nice build Chris.

Thanks all. I was very surprised how much I liked the black and white look. Also the proportions had to be a bit scaled down since we need to fit them both in the new space and still put some other furniture and 3 people in there. I may have to at some point replace the folding table that serves as the 3rd desk. As it will just not look right otherwise. :)

I’ll try to remember to grab a few pics later in the week once they are placed.
