After making my first 3 attempts at bentwood rings, I soon realized what my next would be… And here it is! For those Lord Of The Rings fans, I hope you enjoy! For those that don’t know, this is meant to replicate the ring from the movie. I, in know, think that I am even near as good as other woodworkers, especially in this department, and would never declare myself to be THE Lord of bentwood rings ;)

I basically just incorporated the process I used on many other projects to transfer and image (or letters) and did it to the ring. I’m still struggling with making the finish look perfect using superglue, I keep getting slight scuffs or marks but overall they are turning out really cool! I guess more practice and I might have some really good ones to show.

I think this might be maple? Any other thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for lookin’!

Really great…1. I am struggling with making rings and will work on the Bentwood system shortly. With ordinary rings, I break 9 out of every 10 I make. Hope to get some veneers in the next few weeks…

Oh wow. You know, I heard other methods like turning rings weren’t nearly as strong but didn’t know how difficult it is to actually go through the process and only get 1/10! I got a nice variety pack at for about $40 after shipping. Not a bad deal from what I can tell!
