I have to say that I was inspired to join up and post this recently completed project after coming across the case posted by Nick R.
I finished this project a few months ago after being commissioned by a friends son to make it for him for his Birthday. His son provided me a picture of his dad’s prize bull and his cowboy boots (to make the border pattern). I was lucky enough to be able to borrow another friends pistol to ensure a perfect fit during the construction.
The box was constructed from black walnut that I harvest from my parents farm in Wisconsin. I layered a total of 4 pieces of walnut so I was able to cut the pattern for the pistol and other items from the top of the two center pieces. The entire box was constructed, and then I carved the lid to ensure I had a perfect fit and the design was centered.
The carving was completed using 90% chisels and 10% dremel.
Love the sight and look forward to posting more completed projects.
