This project was made entirely out of Red Oak. I made this box without any plans or references it was a bit challenging because it was the first box I ever made and I had a lot of trouble trying to get the joints to fit properly. If I were to change something about this box it would be the hinges, at the time they were what I had around the house and they were strong enough hold the lid of the box. I lined the inside of the box with some felt I got from a crafts store. While I was building this box my father was hanging out with me giving me input and ideas and even helped cut the felt and helped placing it in the box. After I put a few coats of Danish oil on the box I gave it to my father. He uses it for his watch and some Jewelry and a few items that are important to him.

That’s great! A nice box and a nice gift. Now you have a box under your belt, time for another one so you don’t lose what you gained from this one.

Looks good, simple and clean. I’m sure your father likes it. Well done!
