Inspired by DonB’s project post a couple days ago. I made this for my cousins boy who is turning five this weekend. Center section is 3/4 birch ply, body and fenders are 3/16 pine. I made a quick template by just cutting largest to smallest as I went. As each template was cut I retraced it again for a future template. In the last pic shows the axle assembly in 5/16” hardware less the wheels. I drilled an undersized hole and pressed in the long coupler nuts from both sides. It is painted with dark bronze hammered finish spray paint. During assembly I used high test locktite on the threads. This was a quick fun project and the inline skate wheels really take it for a ride with a good push down the street. Yes, I had to play with it before he gets his present;). Wow! You are just as fast as the car. You didn’t waste any time getting one of these put together. Nice ride! I will have to try one… or two soon. Just not as soon as you did. ha ha

Thanks WC. Looks like you went to work immediately after I posted mine. You’re right, they do fly and the wheels as bumpers will save you from being in the doghouse.

Hammered paint looks great! I like the “white walls” out on the wheels! Makes it look snazzy! Thanks for sharing.

I’ve always thought that a pine wood derby for adults would be an awesome attraction at a sports bar.

You don’t have to admit to “playing with it”. Just say you took it for a test run to check quality control. Go ahead, I think you can still edit. -:)

Looks great and fast. Like the finish and the wheel. I’m sure the kids and adults will enjoy playing with it.
