I believe these were the first project I made in my woodworking journey. They are from a subscriber submitted project from Wood Magazine from about two or three years ago. They have been my go-to blocks and I really like them. I would guess it’s from a 2010 or 2011 WOOD magazine. I would like to make a few more so that I can just leave them “loaded” with various grits at all times and not be switching out different paper all the time.

Ok, I soon have to follow!
Each time I see these I say: ‘I need that’!
Looks really nice.

These have continued to work perfectly for several years with no signs of wear what-so-ever. My young children grab these all the time (and leave them willy-nilly all over my shop, but that is a different story) and so these have been one of the gateway projects to woodworking for beginners (as it was for me).

MadMark – Ha! You have a point. I think my point was that even with young kids (ab)using them they don’t have nicked dented edges, etc. that might make their bottoms out of flat, etc.
