Its a timber frame mortise and tenon. Its a 4” x 4” rather than an 8”x8” pine beam..
Its a novelty item.

I dont have a drill press to drill nice perfect tea light pockets yet.. but I plan to do that

If anyone has any appreciation for timber frame, you might like this.

If you have never been inside a timber frame home, or log home, this means nothing to you

If you know log homes, you see these joints in the home.

I forsee noone being interested in 4 feet of 8X8 pine to have some timberframe joinery to look at or touch or feel.

Interesting, i have a 5’ length from a 4”x6” wormy chestnut beam with a 4” single peg hole tenon on one end. It came out of an old three story post and beam farmhouse that was torn down by the developer I bought my property from. I wish I had gotten more but hadn’t made the purchase then and had no place to store it.

All the whys… Simply ornamental. Something cool to sit on a shelf in the house. It looks just like it would fit nicely with rustic decor. Add he tea lights Jeff, and I think it would be great.
