Crate Coffee Table

I made this coffee table for my stepdaughter’s birthday. Hopefully, this the last of the crate stuff. I have some cabinets to build.

As you can see by the pic, I bought the crates at wallyworld. HD also sells them. They are made in the USA at this facility in GA.

My family has been gawking at them. I used a 2×2 piece of plywood, added a skirt, and finished it with Minwax Chestnut stain and several liberal coats of Deft Gloss finish.

I also made a board that slides in between the slats so something can be placed in the opening. A tab and a bolt keep it in place. No nut necessary. I used the casters from a Harbor Freight furniture dolly. The skirt hides the casters from view. Just what I wanted.
Thanks for looking.
Mike

My daughter saw that on Pinterest and wants me to make it for her. I’m with you, enough crate stuff, I have other things to do. Nice job though.

Well Done! Like the skirt hiding the casters.

My wife wants one of these too. I’m considering making one from scratch out of cherry.

I hope it’s not the end to the crate “stuff”. :(
I think you’re well on the way to a complete line of modular furniture. The pinwheel table’s your masterpiece!
Since I saw your first project, I’m now seeing those crates everywhere.

Thanks John. One of our Facebook friends found the post showing how to make the coffee table, in it’s simple form. I added the skirt to make it look a better. Now my wife wants one using the same stain used for her toy box and secretary desk.
