Lacewood heart cutting board

I could never draw hearts. So to make this I had to go to Michaels hobby store and walk the isles to find something heart-shaped that was hard enough to trace around, yet didn’t have glitter all over it.
Don’t get me wrong, nothing spruces up a shop full of scrap wood and sawdust like glitter, but the stuff inevitably gets on my face.

Anyway, I bought the lighter piece of lacewood for a project, then needed more, so I got the second piece later hence the mismatch. So in an effort to clear out some of the scrap wood, I decided to make this.

I also bought a heart shaped plate for smaller pieces of wood less than 9” wide.

I’m really happy with how they turned out. These go to my retail location and hopefully will sell for valentines day.

The walnut was free, the lacewood cost me almost $40 at one time. The prices were written in the end grain so it’s a bit more expensive than the walnut.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice boards. The lacewood is really a winner. I would make the wife one for Valentines Day, only she would probably throw it at me. Nice work.

Beautiful boards Russell. Lacewood is one of my favorite woods. They should sell in a “heartbeat” (sorry).

-- Tom Finnigan - Measures? We don't need no stinking measures! - Hmm, maybe thats why my project pieces don't fit.

Love your heart shaped board works really well, stunning timber.
TIP : If you need a shape/stencil ect try your search engine ie Google, click on Images and enter heart shape stencil or any subject and take your pick ! click save or print and perhaps resize.
Saves wondering around shops looking for a pattern.
Print your shape/stencil/design trim and spray glue it to your timber. Remove unwanted glued pattern with white spirits ” paint brush cleaner” Love your projects great skill.
