Hey guys,

Quick project posting here. I made these hair sticks for my wife for Christmas. I have wanted to make some simple ones like this for about a year or so and finally got around to it for Christmas this year. I guess you could say they are Japanese inspired, even though most hair sticks are straight. I have always loved a slight curve and the elegant and simple vibe it gives off. Woods used are Maple, Wenge, and Jatoba.

I made a simple template and cut them out on my rickety bandsaw, which was an adventure. After that, it mas mostly smoothing with a spokeshave and sanding to 600. Finish on the wenge and jatoba is BLO. On the maple, I used Mineral Oil.

Hope you guys like them!

Great little project and a great project to use up some of those smaller scraps lying around the shop. I like them all.

This is really a pretty cool little project. I’m going to have to look in to something like this for my wife.

Very pretty hair sticks, like the slightly curved design. It makes a great gift to the wife. Great job!
