Entertainment Center

Since there were a few requests I figured that I would post up the matching entertainment center to the end tables I posted previously. This was my first furniture project and turned out to be quite ambitious, lol.

The plan came about as I could not find any commercially available entertainment centers that would accommodate my rather large center channel speaker for my home theater. So, not wanting to mount it in front of or on top of the TV, I decided to make my own.

The wood is birch veneered ply with cocobolo trim. The granite slab was a cut off remnant from my in-laws bathroom re-model (free!). The whole top is removable to aid in transport should we need to move it at some point.

At the time I only had a $20 router, crappy B&D jig saw and small palm sander, so it took quite a while to finish, but was very satisfying to complete and it gave me confidence to move forward and complete more projects and of course, purchase more tools :)

Looks great and sturdy. Like the trim, very attractive with birch. The granite goes well with the whole design. Overall beautiful design and build. Great job!
