My wife asked if I could make her a desk. She found a picture of what she wanted. That is all I had to go on. It turned out nice and she is happy…and when she is happy, I am happy! :-)

I made it from white pine bought at the big box store, ripped and glued into panels, then planed smooth. For the back, I used pine bead boards (not paneling). That really made this project. And it looks finished from the rear also. The only thing that I wouldn’t consider part of the original item is the drawer slides that I used. But they work just fine (12 inchers).

I finished it with Rustoleum Kona stain and Deft Satin. It looks like the toy box and bookcase I have made for her. I guess we have a theme going. :-)

Hope you like it.

Here are a few construction pics.

A nice rustic look. well done! Although they may not be original full extension drawer slides make the drawers so much more usable.

Great job, Mike!
I stopped making furniture to hold stuff when I realized it only led to the accumulation of more stuff.
The last time my wife asked me to make something for her, I asked her to make something for me in return, and we quickly moved on to a new subject of conversation. :)

Thanks. This desk replaces one of those big office desks sold at the office supply stores. I gave the old desk to a guy starting a fence building business.

I like it! I am a pine fan!

But I am biased as it looks similar to this one!

Lotsa storage in a smaller footprint. I like it.
