First off, I have to say that Im the luckyest and most blessed father that I know. My daughter decided that she wanted to quit her after school job, and work in the shop with me. She has always been in the shop since birth, literally, and is VERY talented and artistic, but never really took it seriously. Well fast forward to Dec 2013, and she asked me about working in the shop and wanted to grow the business. She has turned on the lathe, a number of smaller things, when she was much younger, but decided she wanted to start turning the cedar birdhouses, among other things. This is the first one that she turned, and has a meeting this weekend in Gatlinburg, TN with a store owner, that wants to sell alot of the stuff we make, her stuff that she makes. This birdhouse, along with ALOT more are already sold, but she doesnt know it yet. She took a piece of old cedar log that has been hiding in the corner of the shop for several years, and milled it out and turned it herself. There are already several other stores that have contacted us about wanting to sell some or everything we make, that she makes. It’s really nice to watch a young Lumber Jill eager to learn and grow as a woodworker, and a business lady. She did a really good job.

Awesome work!! Like father like daughter. You’ve got an amazing family Scott. She can teach me to turn those next time I’m up there…..Which will be in the very near future.

Awesome for you! I should be so lucky. I have the impression that my kids couldn’t care if I live or die, much less take an interest in my passion. You are a lucky man!

A chip off the old block. Soon she will be running the shop and you will have to ask for permission to use it. Great to see the family tradition carry on.

Good to see your daughter working with you and sales from your shop. Nice setup I’d say, a win, win.

Beautiful work young Lady! But more importantly, I am so very glad that the both of you are working together to advance the business and that she is enjoying woodworking.

A very nice looking cedar birdhouse and a wonderful partnership, just what every father hopes or wishes for is to share his hobby or business with his daughter or son congrats to you both.
