This was my wife’s idea and I do believe the absolute messiest form of woodworking in which I have ever participated. :)
My wife had wanted to try out the King Arthur Tools Carving Disks on some pieces of Camphor she had managed to get. It was good excuse to buy a new tool. And Yes, I am a very lucky guy!
I learned that these tools can be VERY aggressive as well as effective. However, they will literally sling dust and shavings from one end of your shop to the other.
This piece of camphor was from a small slab and did not reveal the figure until after we started to carve. It turned out to be one of the most striking pieces of wood I have seen in a long while.

Very nice. I use the Lancelot disk on most of my bowls, as well as the little Merlin and guinevere sanding system. Yes, they can be quite messy but they sure are fun to use.
