I have always wanted to make a wooden spoon, and when I saw this project by KnotCurser I quickly asked him for his guidance.
He gave me an amazing description on how to make one and soon after the sawdust started flying in my shop.
I was so impressed with this, that I even made a video.
Hope you enjoy it.
Let me know what you think.

Brilliant build Sir!

Thanks for the mention.

I really liked the video – I think it will inspire others to make some.

One thing I can suggest, from experience, is carving the bowl prior to rounding any of the edges for two reasons:

1) It allows for easy clamping to a table
2) If you screw-up the bowl shape, you can adjust the spoon shape so nobody notices! ;-)

Thanks for the video Paul….I’ve started making spoons too and was wondering how to make the bowl….your dremel idea is great….I’ve got one of them but no carving tools, so I’ll give it a go tomorrow.

I liked your video…really straight forward and well done.

Nice spoon and nice video! Thanks for sharing. I never thought about using the Dremel for the bowl!

If you should ever be interested, Mora makes a decent crook knife without breaking the bank. The wood comes out nicely after a few minutes spent honing the egde. I just got one and happy that I did.

Nice job on the spoon and video. I’ve got one on the bench right now that I haven’t finished because of the bowl. You’ve inspired me to finish it. Thanks for sharing….. Bob
